Galveston Tx

Campsite "Taken from aboard the Colonel Boat"

Normally I start with a picture of our departure, but we started in the late afternoon instead of the morning so I was a little out of sequence.  However the Campsite is a good place to start.  This is a nice LITTLE RV Resort.  We had campsite C11 and didn't put up the Dome (we had just enough room to put it up though) since we were doing the tourist thing.  A mile from Moody Gardens, Shittlerbaun and SeaWall, could have biked very easily.

So our first day was Moody Gardens here's a link http://www.moodygardens.com/.  I bought the tickets that included the Imax showing of the Dark Knight which topped off the day.  Myra really enjoyed the 4D movies (i.e. when Dorothy from Wizard of Oz throws the water on the Witch..the audience gets a spray of water), and the Happy Feet Movie ride.  We where their on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded or rushed, we took in all three Pyminds plus the Colonel boat Ride.

Thursday we drove around to the SeaWall, the Ferry, and went Swiming at the State Park.  We  also stopped at the Pleasure Pier and had Bubba Gump Shrimp.

Friday was Schlitterbahn, and I don't have the water camera pictures back yet.  Again another perfect day this park is supposed to be a smaller than the other parks, but we still have a full day and very short lines.

Saturday we broke camp and headed home, with an afternoon stop at the Houston Space Center.  What a great place, lots of hands on, several shows/presentations and tours.

Myra is in the Top Bubble

Left Houston about 7pm and got home about 1am.  All in all a Great Get Away

  1. Hello! I just had to write to tell you how excited I am I found your site!

My husband and I bought our first travel trailer last year - an R-Pod. AND we are moving to San Antonio in June (he's in the military). Your site has given us all kinds of ideas of where we want to visit in Texas with our R-Pod! Thank you!

Keep on trucking (we'll be right behind you!)
    Thanks again,
